The EIT Regional Innovation Scheme (EIT RIS) was designed by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) to fill the gap between innovation-leading and advancing regions. The program is carried out with the participation of local nodes. Since 2016 the program has been developed in the health field and is coordinated by EIT Health InnoStars. The program includes 14 EIT Health hubs located in 13 countries across Eastern, Central and Southern Europe. These hubs serve as an access points to pan-European network of the best universities, companies and their projects. TrainR4u: Training Course in Clinical Abdominal Ultrasound

TrainR4u is a robot-assisted blended learning programme in abdominal ultrasound aiming to improve the skills of physicians to provide more effective, safer, and faster abdominal ultrasounds.
The programme consists of theoretical and practical classes taught by internationally recognised experts and relies on innovative telemedicine technology. From our programme, students will be able to identify barriers, assess comfort with the machine, interpret images, and incorporate knowledge into clinical practice. The objective of this Training Course in Clinical Abdominal Ultrasound is to capacitate current and future health professionals to acquire/improve skills on that imaging technique. A conclusion certification is awarded by the University of Coimbra, with a value of 1.5 ECTS.

- EIT Jumpstarter 2023

Do you have an innovative idea and want to jumpstart your business?
EIT Jumpstarter is a pre-accelerator run by seven communities of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). The programme includes nine categories: health, food, raw materials, energy, urban mobility, manufacturing, digital, New European Bauhaus (focused on sustainable and inclusive living spaces) and a cohort for Ukrainian innovators. EIT Jumpstarter aims to push early-stage innovators from emerging European regions onto the market and help their scientific ideas and innovations become successful businesses.
The programme lasts seven months, during which selected teams work with expert trainers and mentors and deep dive together into business modelling and business planning. Based on the developed business plan, the start-ups are evaluated, and the six best teams in each category are qualified for the Grand Final, where they compete for the prize of 10,000 EUR in each category.

Through an online game, Science4Pandemics teaches young people, particularly adolescents, about infectious diseases. This educational initiative aims to enhance people’s understanding of pandemics, equip them with important skills in resource management and decision-making, and improve their knowledge of measures to prevent and mitigate pandemics.

- Dementia Inclusive Hospitals 2023

Researchers from Trinity College, in partnership with Tallaght University Hospital, Hospital Clínic de Barcelona and HOPE the European Hospital and Healthcare Federation, have developed a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) focusing on dementia-friendly hospital design.
The MOOC guides health professionals and others in the design of a hospital experience that supports the needs of dementia patients. Among other considerations, the MOOC helps professionals understand the symptoms of dementia and related impairments, and how these affect the patient’s experience of the hospital setting.
