In this year’s second Morning Health Talk, we’ll tackle the myths circulating about Spin-outs.
At LUI’s virtual discussion event Morning Health Talk: Busting Spin-out Myths, under the auspices of EIT Health, we will look for solutions to transfer technologies more effectively to general use. With renowned Slovenian and foreign experts from academic and corporate circles, we will delve into the following myths:
- The innovation is so good it will sell itself.
- If a researcher decides to spin-out, he no longer retains his place as a researcher.
- The research institution and/or the mentoring professor get the largest share in the spin-out.
- A license agreement is the only possible model of technology transfer.
- University or the research institution plays a big role in the possible failure of the spin-out.
- The spin-out must remain close to the research institution.
- Spin-outs are an administrative and a financial burden for the research institution.
- Getting more support in the initial spin-out phase by research institutions.
